the sourcebook
ART DIRECTION, PRINT DESIGN
This is the sourcebook for the 2015 class of Graduate Design at California College of the Arts. It is a zeitgeist made up of a cumulation of topics that address the current state of design, combining digital and analogue methods of making.
Made in collaboration with: Lizzie Vaughn, Beth Abrahamson, and Charles Williams.
structure
The sourcebook is divided into three sections which are physically nested within each other: the world (the large sized, middle section), the collective (the medium sized, outer section), and the secrets (the small sized, inner section).
THE THREE SECTIONS OF THE SOURCEBOOK
THE UNDERLYING GRID/TEMPLATE FOR THE WORLD SECTION OF THE BOOK WHICH WAS BASED ON WEBSITE LAYOUTS.
the book
The final printed version of the book was assembled and stapled by hand.
experience
At the graduate student showcase, we put together a viewing room for the sourcebook, which featured all the mistake prints on the walls, free copies on the table, as well as a video of Marshall McLuhan talking about βThe Medium is the Messageβ, which was one of the guiding sources for the creation of the sourcebook.
